The various tACS prototypes were all complex devices designed to produce the highest sample rate and bit depth reasonably possible, but because of the more stringent design requirements they were difficult to build and interface with. Basic tACS is a lower sample rate and bit depth version of the previous tACS device. These tradeoffs allow Basic tACS to be much less expensive and simpler to construct and drive.
